Chart of the Day

πŸ† Today's Chart of the Day was shared by Jason Goepfert (@jasongoepfert).

  • Today marked the sixth consecutive session in which more than 68% of the S&P 500 advanced, indicating a much-needed breadth expansion.

  • Jason points out that this represents the longest streak on record, with data going back to the early 1930s.

  • Breadth started to deteriorate in early December. While the S&P 500 pulled back less than -5% on a closing basis, rotation masked some of the corrective action beneath the surface of the index.

The Takeaway: Breadth has notably improved recently. Today marked the sixth consecutive session in which more than 68% of the S&P 500 advanced.
