Chart of the Day

Today’s chart of the day was shared in a research note by Andrew Adams and Jeff Saut. It’s a ratio chart showing small-caps ($IWM) performance relative to their large-cap peers ($SPX) over the past year. As you can see, small-caps have underperformed so far this year. In the note, Adams and Saut explain that over the past month small-caps have picked up strength. They think this ratio is potentially forming a bottom here, leading them to believe that the recent outperformance in small-caps relative to large-caps could continue over the coming months. This would be bullish for the overall market as it would be a sign of risk-appetitie.
